Spring has sprung, and with warmer weather upon us, outdoor activities are a great way to get some exercise in. Getting outdoors is wonderful for overall health, and exercising while outside is even better. One of the best outdoor activities for health is riding a bike, and there is no better time to get outdoors and on your bike than now since May is national bike month!

How is riding a bike good for your health?

Regular physical activity can prevent all kinds of serious diseases such as heart disease, obesity, high blood pressure, mental illness, and diabetes. Riding a bike is such a great way to get your exercise in because it is a low impact activity that is going to cause less strain on your joints than other forms of exercise such as running, or heavy weight lifting. Riding a bike is also a great muscular workout since cycling requires the use of all of your major muscle groups. Riding a bike is also relatively easy compared to other sports and physical activity, and have you ever heard of the saying “it’s just like riding a bike? Well, it’s true! Once you learn how to ride a bike, you will not forget how to do it. Bike riding is great for strength and stamina, so it works as a great form of exercise if you are training for an event and are looking for a low impact way to build your strength and stamina on your off days of strenuous exercise. Lastly, bike riding can be as intense as you want it to be, you control the speed and the distance, and it is a super fun way to get your exercise in.

If you are looking for a fun way to exercise and get outside to enjoy the beautiful spring weather try getting back on your bike.
